Leading automotive aftermarket components manufacturer, Bosch won the Innovation Award in the parts and components category at the recent Automechanika 2016 show for its lithium-ion-two-wheeler battery. The award recognizes the most innovative and aspirational products in this category.
As a result of the use of Bosch’s lithium-ion technology, the new M Li-ion battery has a markedly higher deep-cycle resistance when compared to conventional lead-acid batteries. It is also relatively light-weight, weighing 30 per cent less than typical two-wheeler batteries. Generally, the batteries of two-wheelers are installed in a high location and the lower weight of the new battery has a very positive effect on the vehicle’s center of gravity. The balancers or the battery management system ensure optimal charging and discharging of all its cells Another distinct advantage of this battery is its low self-discharge rate. When compared to normal lead-acid batteries, it can retain charge for up to four times longer and this feature is particularly useful in regions experiencing harsh winters as there will be no issues with reliability or delay in starting the vehicle. These features make M Li-ion battery the perfect fit for two-wheelers having high energy demands like motorbikes that are fitted with electronic gasoline injection systems and those having features like ABS and MSC (Motorcycle Stability Control). He new battery will motorcycle users the prospect of a more powerful and fun drive due to higher reliability, lower weight and higher performance.
Powerful and Flexible Lithium-ion technology The Bosch M Li-ion battery is easily available at the retail level and can be used for most common makes of two-wheelers, quads and jetboats. As the new battery is acid-free, it can be mounted in any position and can be used even for those vehicles that are used in extreme conditions like in motorcycles used for racing, or those that need to be used in really tough terrain. Bosch will continue to work on extending its range of starter batteries using lithium-ion technology for passenger cars, thus strengthening the company’s position as a pioneer on the battery market.
Broad Bosch range specifically for two-wheelers In addition to OE parts, Bosch also manufactures a wide range of spare parts and products to cater to two-wheeler workshops and motorcycle riders. The company’s high-quality spare parts, cutting-edge workshop equipment for diagnostics, service and repair and customized training programs are tailored specifically for the two=wheeler workshops. Bosch has also developed the Esitronic 2.0 workshop software package which is compatible with all common European and Asian motorcycle brands and works on Bosch KTS-line diagnostic testers.
