BorgWarner Cooling Systems India, the company’s subsidiary in India which makes viscous clutches and engine cooling fans at the company’s plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, made its presence felt at the ACMA Automechanika New Delhi show which was held from March 21 to 24. The company used its participation in the show to highlight its range of viscous fan drives and engine cooling fans, that are suitable for use in a diverse range of commercial vehicles from 1-tonne to 49 tons and also on many SUVs and light vehicles.
The viscous fan drives incorporate the most modern engineering innovations, like fully modulating, cost-effective fan drives that regulate fan speed depending on engine cooling needs. They provide vehicles with the most economical combination of efficiency, performance and quiet operation. Using these fan drives will help to improve efficiency and horsepower to the tune of 5 hp when compared to fixed fans. They need zero maintenance and significantly extend the life of engine, belt and accessory components. They also have the capability to sense heat exchanger air temperature for accurate fan engagement.
When it comes to polymer cooling fans, Borgwarner has fans ranging from optimized axial flow fans and ring-fans meant for specific installations, to new hybrid designs that can cover future cooling demands. The new models are lightweight and offer improved aerodynamics and durability. Borgwarner optimizes performance and reliability using technology-focused design methods like FEA, CFD and MoldFlow.
The Sriperumbudur plant of BorgWarner Cooling Systems has a total production capacity of 1.3 million units and manufactures fans, viscous fan clutches and Visctronics fan clutches which can help OEMs to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The company is a supplier to many leading automotive companies like Tata Cummins, Tata Motors, Man Trucks, Ashok Leyland, Volvo Eicher, Daimler, Mahindra & Mahindra, JCB, John Deere, TAFE and CNH.
