New tech startup Algocian has developed a simplified system to detect motion that can be of immense benefit when it comes to self-driving vehicles. Currently, many tech and auto companies have recognized that it is only a matter of time before self-driving vehicles become road legal and are devoting immense time and energy to make such cars as safe for pedestrians and their users as possible. In most self-driving cars that are currently being tested, a complex array of cameras and sensors are used to detect other vehicles and pedestrians and navigate the roads safety. Algocian claims that it has developed affordable motion-sensing technology that can be easily installed in cameras, smartphones and self-driving cars.
The company’s technology facilitates the detection of persons in real-time in both analog and digital cameras. Algocian claims that the system it uses is a lot more accurate than the current systems for motion detections, with fewer false readings. In visual terms, the system will highlight people on the move while it ignores traffic. Thus, autonomous vehicles using Algocian’s sytem can get a more accurate idea about their surroundings.
Algocian wants to integrate its system into future vehicles, but also feels the system offers a lot of potential for the security industry. Algocian’s Artemis I system is can be used as a turn-key solution and does not need to be connected to the cloud. Once the system has been installed and is online, its machine learning will improve the system capabilities for motion detection. Another distinctive advantage of the system is that it is relatively affordable as the processors that power the embedded version of the tech cost less than five dollars.
