PEUGEOT unveiled its new 208 generations in the GCC, perfectly highlighting the French automaker’s expansion strategy in the region. Futuristic and athletic, the new 208 comes in two trim levels; the entry-level ‘Active’, and the top-of-the-range ‘GT’ model bringing a breath of youth and energy to the B segment.
The new generation of PEUGEOT’s dynamic 208 hatchback model has been completely re-imagined to emphasise the brand’s new sharp, futuristic design language. The PEUGEOT 208’s cool new exterior is now more seductive and purposeful, whilst the car’s spectacular interior includes premium materials and cutting-edge technology – including the latest evolution of its trademark PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® 3D.
“With the new PEUGEOT 208, I am proud to introduce a car that projects PEUGEOT’s vision of the future. Its sleek and seductive design is reminiscent of its rich pedigree, drawing inspiration from models like the PEUGEOT 205, but with a new found youthfulness and energy that is testament to our brand direction. The 208 is a car that will disrupt the B segment thanks to premium materials, the latest in technology and unrivalled quality standards.” said, Rakesh Nair, Managing Director for European Brands at Stellantis ME.
Futuristic and young
The new 208 asserts a youthful image and communicates the values of the PEUGEOT brand – High Expectations, Style and Emotion through its design. It epitomises cheerfulness, sporty vitality, and promise thanks to sleek lines that complement PEUGEOT’s up-market strategy. Sitting at the heart of the B segment, the 208 is a game-changer that combines assertive automotive design, with next generation technology making it a worthy challenger in its class.
Available in two distinct trim levels, the base model ‘Active’, and top-of-the-range ‘GT’, the 208 is powered by a 1.2 litre turbo engine coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission that makes 130 hp and 230 Nm of torque. Both trims offer a premium experience for drivers and passengers alike and feature a wide array of options, including:
“Active”
“GT”
Cutting-edge technology: PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®
The new PEUGEOT 208 benefits from a new, unparalleled generation of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®, an inseparable part of the PEUGEOT’s driver-focused DNA. Labelled the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® 3D, it is a world-first in the segment, and displays information that can be read at two levels. Entirely customisable with six different display modes, the i-Cockpit® heads up display unit is positioned above the steering wheel and presents driving information within the eye line of the driver.
The central touch-screen is perfectly positioned and accompanied by seven ‘piano key’ toggle switches which operate the main i-Cockpit® features: radio, air conditioning, navigation, vehicle settings, telephone, and phone mirroring.
Sleek and desirable design
The New PEUGEOT 208’s exterior is distinctive and tasteful, revealing the strength of its expressive design. Longer, wider and lower than the outgoing PEUGEOT 208, this new generation reveals a distinctive bodyline, suggesting sportiness with its clean, taut lines. There is also a clear touch of sensuality conferred by the wide shaped wings and overall body curves – a discreet balance between soft and firm.
From the side, new PEUGEOT 208 reveals its pared-back windscreen that allows space for a longer, sculpted bonnet. To underscore the sporty look, the extreme-angled quarter light is perfectly aligned with the rear wheel arch. On the-top-of-the-range version, the 17-inch wheel rims are adorned with screw-in, customisable inserts which improve the aerodynamic effect.
Immediately recognisable, the front end is a clever blend echoing the visual signature of the lower section of new PEUGEOT models which feature full LED 3-claw headlights. The front bumper is designed as a single contour containing a perfectly-integrated, single outlet radiator grill in the centre, bearing the iconic PEUGEOT Lion.
The 208 will be available for customers from April 2021, customers will be able to visit PEUGEOT local distributors.
