Here is the thing with siblings: Even though they share the same genetic material and often look very similar on the outside, very different characters can hide behind the visual family resemblance. That’s also the case with the pair of Mercedes van brothers shown here. The engineers and stylists at VANSPORTS.DE, which is headquartered in Neuss – who for many years have been renowned as experts in upgrading and personalizing the spacious vehicles with the star – equipped both a Vito and a car in the somewhat more exalted V class with their VP Spirit Aerodynamic Kit, which ensures better dynamics. The kit includes the front spoiler lip, rocker panels, a rear apron and a roof spoiler. Here the vehicle that’s definitely more noticeable is a fully electrical e-Vito, as the eye-catching name on its sides already suggests: “e silent dynamic” is VANSPORTS.DE’s newly created label for the booming segment of – the name says it all – the Mercedes e-Vitos and EQVs that are as soft as a whisper. Matching the styling, the aerodynamic parts and one segment in each of the rim spokes feature light blue accents. By contrast, its brother V 300 d, a somewhat more luxurious character, is fired by a conventional 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel motor that boasts two turbo loaders. Since this is an upgraded model (starting in 2019), the V class features the corresponding VP Spirit MK II Kit, which was painted obsidian black and thus contrasts with the body, which is encased in green metallic foil. While the diesel van has a black double exhaust pipe to complement the design, the locally emissions-free Vito, of course, manages without any exhaust at all. Both VP spirit vans uniformly feature Aerorad VAED alloy rims in the dimension 9×20″ ET 45 – on the front axle in combination with 245/40R20 tires, in the back even covered with wide 275/35 series rubber tires. Alternatively to the black finish with polished front used here, the Aerorad VAED is also available in glossy anthracite metal. Another joint feature of the two vehicles is the VANSPORTS sports suspension, which causes noticeably more dynamic handling and lowers the vehicles by about 30 millimeters, without unduly reducing driving comfort.
