The Ram 2500 Power Wagon has arrived in the Middle East market, bringing with it unprecedented levels of luxury, versatility and off-road performance. An homage to the original Dodge Power Wagon, the legendary desert workhorse of the Middle East’s oil boom in the 1950s and 60s, the go-anywhere Ram Power Wagon duly honors its forefather’s reputation as “the most capable production off-road truck in the industry.”
The new Ram 2500 Power Wagon arrives in the Middle East as part of the award-winning Ram Heavy Duty range, which sets benchmarks in ride and handling, luxury, materials, innovation and technology extending well past any competitive offerings. As a result, leading US automotive journal MotorTrend named the Ram Heavy Duty its 2020 Truck of the Year.
The Ram Heavy Duty’s win is the second in as many years for the brand, with the Ram 1500 earning the title last year. Since becoming a standalone brand a decade ago, Ram Truck has captured MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year title no less than five times: 2010, 2013, 2014, 2019 and 2020.
Powertrain
The engine in the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty has been upgraded to the proven and potent 6.4-liter HEMI V-8, delivering a class-leading 410 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm and 429 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4,000 rpm to handle the payload and towing requirements of the heavy-duty truck user.
In a first for the Ram Heavy Duty, the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 comes mated to the proven and smooth-shifting TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic, which boasts more than 40 individual shift maps to optimize shift points for fuel economy, performance and drivability. The transmissions use shift-by-wire technology, eliminating a mechanical linkage between the transmission and the gear selector.
Off-Road Capability
The most capable production off-road truck on the market today, the Power Wagon features a manual shift-on-the-fly transfer case which enables the driver to instantly shift between 2WD, 4-High and 4-Low whilst on the move, an indispensable feature for hardcore off-roaders who want the ability to tackle any terrain with ease.
The Power Wagon also boasts a range of additional features as standard, including electronic range select, a unique Ram Articulink suspension with factory lift and Bilstein performance-tuned shock absorbers, locking front and rear differentials and a disconnecting sway bar, to make it the ultimate off-road pickup.
Also new to the Power Wagon is a 360 camera, which includes forward-view camera gridlines to help navigate obstacles on rugged trails and an all-new/class-exclusive fully integrated front-mounted WARN Zeon winch that features a new synthetic material for more durability, light weight and a capacity to pull up to 5,443kg.
The Power Wagon’s unique 17-inch machined-face aluminum are wheels paired with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac® all-terrain tires for superior levels of grip, no matter the surface, and thanks to an impressive ground clearance of 366mm and short front and rear overhangs, the Power Wagon offers an approach angle of 29.4°, a departure angle of 26.0°, and a maximum breakover angle of 23.1°. As a result, there are very few obstacles that the Power Wagon couldn’t conquer.
Exterior
The Power Wagon comes with exclusive exterior design features that set it apart in the 2500 range, including 17-inch Matte Black & Aluminum Polished Wheels with Goodyear LT285/70R17D all-terrain tires, exclusive Power Wagon hood/side/tailgate decals, dark LED headlamps and taillamps, and stylish powder-coated front/rear bumpers and front grille.
The 2500 Power Wagon also comes in a Crew Cab configuration with a fully equipped 6’4” cargo bed with Spray-In Bedliner, LED Bed Lighting and Deployable Bed Step, Dampened Tailgate with Remote Release, Tri-Fold Bed Tonneau Cover and last but not least with Ram’s innovative and functional RamBox Cargo Management System available as an option.
Interior
For 2020, all-new features, technology and premium materials from the award-winning Ram 1500 have been brought to the Ram Heavy Duty interior to help continue its interior leadership with quality, technology and luxury.
The Power Wagon Launch Edition comes with a range of luxurious features as standard, including Ram’s Uconnect 4C NAV on a 12-inch fully configurable touchscreen, the largest in its segment, which can display one application, such as the navigation map, across the whole 12-inch screen, or can be divided in half, operating two different applications at once.
The Power Wagon also comes standard with a luxurious leather interior, an expansive single-pane sunroof, and a premium Alpine audio system to immerse passengers in the ultimate sound experience, with the option to upgrade to a 750-watt Harman Kardon Audio System with 16 speakers and an 8-inch subwoofer.
An active noise cancellation system and acoustic glass reduce ambient cabin sounds by nearly 10 dB, making it the quietest Ram Heavy Duty ever.
