BRABUS supercars all have one thing in common: they offer superior performance and thus an incomparable driving experience. This philosophy is also alive in the BRABUS 92R and with maximum environmental compatibility at that thanks to carbon-neutrality. To this end, the BRABUS engineers, technicians and programmers developed a performance upgrade for the electric powertrain of the smart EQ fortwo cabrio. The BRABUS PowerXtra performance upgrade for the three-phase synchronous motor consists of a newly tuned torque control system, new modules for the driving dynamics switch and accelerator pedal, and a special gateway. Optimal coordination of the individual components unleashes the reserves of this electric powertrain.
The “driving fun switch” in the cockpit activates one of four different drive modes. Basic level 1 leaves the electric motor at its production performance level. In “Eco” mode, energy recovery is increased. This means that the two-seater brakes significantly stronger than in the production model when you let off the gas. The hydraulic brake is only used for stopping. Level 3 stands for “Sport.” In this drive mode, the response to accelerator pedal commands is more instantaneous and the energy recovery rate is reduced to the production level.
For maximum driving fun, the BRABUS 92R has the “Sport +” level. This increases the engine output to 68 kW / 92 hp (91 bhp). At the same time, peak torque increases to 180 Nm (133 lb-ft), up 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) from the stock version. This means that you not only enjoy an even livelier electric powertrain in the cockpit, but also experience an even faster accelerator pedal response.
The electrically powered BRABUS 92R city sports car accelerates almost silently from 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 10.9 seconds in “Sport +” mode. The top speed remains limited to 130 km/h (81 mph). One battery charge is good for a range of up to 125 kilometers (78 miles), depending on the driving style.
The sporty, elegant look of the BRABUS 92R special model matches this driving performance. The BRABUS design package gives the two-seater even sportier looks and even more efficient aerodynamics. The BRABUS front fascia with three large air intakes, which replaces the production bumper, characterizes the face of the city sports car. The central BRABUS front spoiler and the BRABUS rocker panels add bright red highlights. At the rear, the BRABUS diffusor, which likewise sports red elements, gives the two-door a more athletic appearance. Carbon design covers for the door mirrors round off the individual look equally tastefully.
The exclusive look of this supercar naturally also includes tailor-made wheels that perfectly fill the space under the wheel arches. The BRABUS Monoblock IX alloy wheels with eight double spokes are painted high-gloss black and mounted on the special model in the combination 6Jx16 at the front with size 185/50 R 16 tires and 7Jx17 rims with size 205/40 R 17 tires on the rear axle. Technology partner Yokohama provides the optimal high-performance tires.
The BRABUS coilover sports suspension, which lowers the exclusive two-door car by around 25 millimeters (1 in), is specifically tuned to this wheel/tire combination and the weight of the electric car. Extensive road tests were used to achieve an outstanding combination of agile, safe handling and high ride quality.
The interior of the BRABUS 92R, which demonstrates its affiliation with this edition of just 50 vehicles with stylishly integrated logos, is just as exceptional as the performance and bodywork design. The seat surfaces are quilted in the ‘Ultimate Ellipse’ design. Black topstitching and BRABUS logos in both backrests add striking highlights. The convertible’s electric soft-top also sports that same bright red.
The steering wheel with red top center marker is likewise covered in fine BRABUS leather. Other sporty features include the carbon design trim for the instrument panel, auxiliary instruments and air vents, as well as the aluminum pedals, emergency brake lever and gear shift knob.
The scuff plates and footrest in the driver’s footwell both feature a BRABUS logo alternately illuminated in white and red. Classy black velour floor mats with red BRABUS logo complete the classy ambience.
Air conditioning, radio and navigation system are of course included in the extensive range of equipment of the open-top BRABUS 92R city supercar from Bottrop. Further customer requests can be fulfilled with special paint finishes and additional interior upgrades.
