A timeless style icon, the first Porsche 911 laid the groundwork for one of automotive history’s most captivating sports car lineages. Suspension manufacturer KW automotive caters to all legendary 911 (1963 – 1968), 911 L (1968), 911 T (1968 – 1969), 911 E (1969), 911 S (1967 – 1969), 911 T 2.2 (1970 – 1971), 911 E 2.2 (1970 – 1971), 911 S 2.2 (1970 – 1971), 911 T 2.4 (1971 – 1973), 911 E 2.4 (1972 – 1973) and 911 S 2.4 (1972 – 1973), KW V3 Classic damper set. Featuring adjustable compression and rebound, these dampers boast forged spindles, making them ideal restoration companions. Unlike traditional, time-consuming cartridge replacements, the KW V3 Classic sets arrive ready to install, simplifying the process. Another bonus is that original torsion bars can be retained, adjusting the lowering achieved by the usual air-cooled Porsche (F Body, G Body) method of turning the bars. More at www.kwsuspensions.net
What was cutting-edge technology in the 1960s needs to be updated. Nevertheless, classic cars have lost none of their fascination. “When we introduced our modern KW V3 Classic dampers for the classic Porsche 911 (G Body), we seemed to have hit the zeitgeist,” says KW Classic expert Sascha Daucher. “We now also offer our modern damper struts with forged wishbones for classic BMW M3 (E30). Our program also has dampers for the first Porsche 911 models from 1963 to 1973.” All damper struts for these classics will also be available in a black steel version with a black powder coating. Another new feature is that a distinction must be made between the Porsche 911 F-model (F Body) from 1963 to 1969 and 1970 to 1973. The later model years have a larger screw diameter (M14) on the rear axle damper.
Experience modern technology in the cult of yesterday – KW V3 Classic Damper Set
KW V3 Classic dampers ensure control and composure in the cockpit, even when facing demanding and combined vehicle excitations and poor asphalt surfaces. Before it becomes discordant, the preloaded high-speed valves in the damper yield, allowing a higher oil volume flow through the channels. This facilitates harmonious wheel compression. ‘The dampers don’t just cushion bumps, but all of our Porsche customers are amazed at how smoothly their classic now drives,’ says Sascha Daucher. The KW V3 Classic dampers for the classic Porsche 911 can also be adjusted separately in the low-speed compression and low-speed rebound stages. This allows the preset basic setup to be further fine-tuned individually. The rebound stage is responsible for how a vehicle connects to the road and how quickly the springs return to their initial position after compression. Closing the rebound stage makes the handling more direct while opening the rebound stage valves leads to more forgiving handling and increased driving comfort. Sixteen click steps are available for adjusting the low-speed rebound stage. The compression stage, on the other hand, influences the compression and thus has a direct impact on the body roll movements during steering and cornering. The compression stage also enhances the turn-in behavior of the 911. The low-speed compression stage can be adjusted with twelve clicks on the KW V3 Classic dampers to further optimize rolling comfort and tire grip in a targeted manner. More at www.kwsuspensions.net
