The all-new Lincoln Navigator Concept SUV made its debut in the UAE on March 23 and gave an indication of the future direction for the brand’s most famous model.
According to Kumar Galhotra, president of Lincoln, the all-new Navigator heralds the era of luxury in the full-size SUV segment with its combination of power, elegance and comfort. It may not be the loudest SUV on the road, but it is to be one that will definitely exceed the expectations of customers with the design being geared to provide them with “quiet luxury”.
Lincoln was the first brand to produce a large luxury SUV back in 1997. Now, it has come up with a new, improved, Navigator for modern customers who are seeking more space, more powerful performance and more advanced luxury in a large SUV.
The design of the all-new Lincoln Navigator Concept SUV was inspired by that of luxury yachts and sailboats and this is evident in the clean lines of the exterior, the Storn Blue paint, the gullwing doors, the blue leather in the interior, the teak finishes and the custom wardrobe management system that can accommodate all the gear needed to spend a day on the water.
Go-anywhere performance
The large SUV is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that has an output exceeding 400 horsepower and has smart technologies to make it easier to tackle different road surfaces and weather conditions. Drivers can select from many drive modes with variations in steering, suspension and noise levels to suit their preferences and to make their trip smoother. Each mode is accompanied by a matching digital animation in the cluster.
Personal sanctuary
Navigator Concept has class-leading space in the cabin by a significant margin. The interiors are in light blue leather and in order to adjust to different body types of customers, the six Perfect Position seats can be adjusted in 30 different ways. The driver’s comfort too has been taken into account with independent deployable thigh supports for providing maximum support and comfort. The custom wardrobe management system can accommodate clothing for a day out while Lincoln’s Revel audio system provides entertainment with the best audio and visual quality. The power gullwing doors and deployable concertina steps as well as the special lighting sequence on opening the door to welcome passengers add distinctive touches to the Lincoln Navigator Concept experience.
The Navigator Concept comes with a wide range of advanced technological features that are meant to enhance safety, connectivity and comfort. The Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection continually scans the road ahead with the aid of radar and camera technology to mitigate the risk of accidents. The automatic emergency braking system takes pre-emptive action if the driver fails to respond in time by applying the full brakes to minimize and help avoid collisions. The 360-degree camera system uses data and images from four cameras to give drivers an overall view of the environment around them. It works in tandem with enhanced park assist features to make parking smooth and easy. A lane-keeping systems alerts drivers if they are straying from their line by making the steering vibrate and even gives mild steering input to take them back to the center of the lane.
In the cabin, head restraint monitors provide passengers Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing them to wirelessly share music and content from personal devices.
For drivers, a large panel screen clearly displays key information. The display can be customized from a digital touch screen housed in the center stack.
