KIA Motors has won five major automotive awards already this year. The company earned these accolades at prestigious international automotive awards programmes and they include three awards this year at the iF Design’ awards for the KIA Stinger, Stonic and Picanto, the “best Car of the Year” award at the ‘MotorWeek 2018 Drivers’ Choice Awards’ for the Kia Stinger and the same model won the ‘Shift Award Vehicle of the Year’ at the ‘Roadshow by CNET 2018’
This is the second consecutive year that Kia has won three awards at the iF awards and the ninth consecutive year that the company has received an award at the event. Kia has now won a total of 15 iF design prizes. This year Kia won the awards after fending off really tough competition as the iF awards had received as many as 6,400 entries from 54 countries.
The Kia Stinger has emerged as a really popular model as in addition to the CNET and MotorWeek awards, it won ‘Car of the Year’ in Slovakia, ‘Performance Car of the Year’ award in the UK, and the ‘Trophée Argus 2018’ award given by members of the French media.
The Stinger has also been shortlisted in both the North American and European Car of the Year award programs, as well as for the Czech ‘Car of the Year’ award. With a few short months after its launch, the Stinger has established itself as one of the most popular KIA models ever launched.
The Singer was conceptualized and designed by KIA’s European design studio in Frankfurt, which is overseen by Peter Schreyer, Chief Design Officer of KIA Motors, and Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer at KIA Motors Europe. Its design is evocative of the historic grand tourers which transported their owners in style and at speed. The Singer was designed to the perfect ‘gran turismo’ vehicle, with planty of room for five occupants and their luggage. It offers motorists a stable, smooth ride and nimble handling with engaging, rear-biased power delivery.
The Stonic, KIA’s debut compact crossover was also designed in Frankfurt and is notable for its striking and bold exterior design, as well as its practical SUV configuration and elevated seating position. It is the most customizable KIA ever made, and buyers have a wide range of two-tone paint combinations and interior colours to choose from.
The third-generation of the KIA Picanto, which is KIA’s smallest model is one that lends the A-segment a youthful and energetic character with its distinctive new design and a high-quality, high-tech cabin. The Picanto offers huge potential for customisation and in spite of its small size, it sports an intelligent design that makes it one of the most spacious cars in its class.
