Jaguar launched a special edition of its flagship Jaguar XJ sedan at the Beijing Motor Show to celebrate 50 years of the model. Jaguar had launched the model in 1968 and there have been seven generations of the sporty and stylish sedan after that.
While the special edition model will be available in the US market only with the long wheelbase, in other markets it would be available in either the standard or long wheelbase versions. The 2019 XJ50 is available in two engine variants – a 3.0L supercharged V6 engine with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive having an output of 340hp, or 5.0L supercharged V8 engine with rear-wheel-drive and an output of 470hp.
The characteristics of the special edition that differentiate it from other XJs are the 2019 XJ50’s unique badging, unique front and rear bumpers, a gloss black front grille, and special 20-inch wheels with gloss black diamond turned finish. The sedan will be available in four colors including Fuji White, Santorini Black, Loire Blue and Rosello Red.
When it comes to the interiors, the XJ50 comes with diamond-quilted seats having an embossed Jaguar leaper on the headrests and an XJ50 logo on the center armrest. The car also has unique intaglio branding and XJ50-badged illuminated treadplates. The car is slated to be launched at the retail level in the fourth quarter of 2018. The special edition 2019 Jaguar XJ50 will be available for sale in 100 countries.
