Hyundai Motor emerged as the winner of two awards at the 2018 edition of the Red Dot Design Awards, which is one of the three most important awards in the field of design and innovation. The other two awards are IDEA design awards and the IF design awards. Hyundai won the awards for its Fuel Cell vehicle NEXO and the subcompact SUV Kona in the Cars and Motorcycles category. The Kona was recognized on the basis of its impressive design and innovation in ‘SUV/Off-road vehicles’ segment while the NEXO too proved to be a winner in its category.
The entries for the prestigious Red Dot award are carefully evaluated by the expert judges on several parameters like the product’s functionality, durability, level of innovation and overall quality under aspects of form and function. The NEXO is Hyundai’s second-generation fuel cell electric vehicle and is notable for its clean lines and calm design with its streamlined silhouette and a floating roof. The All-New Hyundai NEXO is set to be the flag bearer of the new age of mobility for Hyundai with its eye-catching design and its technological innovations. This model is the first dedicated hydrogen-powered SUV and offers motorists the perfect combination of an SUV’s practicality, the most advanced clean fuel cell technology on the market, autonomous driving capabilities, smart advanced driver assistance systems and the strongest powertrains in the segment.

The company went on to get a honorable mention for the i30 and the Red Dot design award for the Hyundai Azera in 2017 before bagging double honors again this year.
The jury for the prestigious Red Dot design awards comprised high profile designers, professors and journalists. The Red Dot Design Award is recognized all over the world as one of the most sought-after marks for high quality design. The 2018 contest attracted entries from 59 countries, making the Red Dot Award the largest product competition in the world.
