In order to honor the historic GT40 Mark IV race car that won the Le Mans race in 1967, Ford Performance will be debuting a limited edition Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition. The GT 40 Mark IV race car which was driven by Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt at Le Mans in 1967 created history and the limited edition model will come with unique interior and exterior color themes, and an exclusive wheel finish to honor this historic feat.
Commenting on the new model from Ford Performance, Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance said that in order to create a worthy successor to the ’66 Heritage edition, the company was inspired by Ford’s next historic Le Mans victory.
He added, “The Ford GT ’67 Heritage edition pays homage to that win, with a modern take on one of the most important vehicles in Ford’s storied history of racing.”
The Ford GT ’67 Heritage edition comes with a gloss-finish Race Red exterior having white stripes and an exposed carbon package. The car sports Frozen White No. 1 hood and door graphics. The 20-inch one-piece forged aluminum wheels in silver satin clearcoat with black wheel nuts wheels align well with the racing theme, while the red callipers and silver rearview mirror caps add the finishing touches.
The interiors are just as distinctive with new leather trimming for the carbon fiber seats, red accent stitching, which is echoed in the steering wheel. The seat belt webbing too is red while the paddle shifters have an anodized grey finish. Satin dark stainless appliqués are used on the instrument panel, door register bezels and x-brace.
The other distinctive features of the ‘67 Heritage edition car include a unique serialized identification plate, exposed matte carbon fiber door sills, air register pods and the center console.
According to Garen Nicoghosian, exterior design manager for the car, the first Heritage edition car proved to be a huge success, and the ’67 Heritage Edition continues this tradition with its modern take on the Le Mans winner. Limited quantities of the Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition will be available in 2018.
