The off-road supercar with 588 kW / 800 hp, 1,000 Nm of torque and exclusive BRABUS equipment
BRABUS 800 4×4² SUPERBLACK: That is the label under which the world’s largest independent automotive refinement specialist presents an exclusive off-road supercar. The engineers and designers of BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone +49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, Internet www.brabus.com) developed an off-roader with 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) based on the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² that cuts a striking figure on the grand boulevards – and not just there: Thanks to its outstanding off-road capabilities, it is also perfectly suited for automotive adventures far off paved roads. This is ensured, among other things, by the immensely powerful twin-turbo V8 engine, which accelerates the off-road supercar from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds. Due to the high center of gravity and the all-terrain tires, the top speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h (130 mph). As the name of this exclusive supercar edition indicates, the vehicle is finished all in black. The systematic use of exposed-carbon elements on the vehicle body and in the interior gives the high-performance off-roader a decidedly sporty touch. The interior is refined with exclusive and – naturally – black BRABUS MASTERPIECE appointments, for which the finest leather and Dinamica hi-tech microfiber were transformed with consummate craftsmanship. The BRABUS 800 4×4² SUPERBLACK in the specification shown here sells for 672,955,40 euros (export price in Germany excluding VAT).
Of course, maximum off-road capabilities were at the very top of the developers’ performance specifications for this BRABUS supercar. That is why the BRABUS engineers and designers chose the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² as the perfect basis for this special model. Its chassis with portal axles, which make extreme axle articulation possible, facilitates mastering even the most difficult terrain.
To give the BRABUS 800 4×4² SUPERBLACK even more spectacular looks and make it even more suitable for use far off paved roads at the same time, the engineers and designers of the automotive refinement specialist developed the BRABUS Package.
This also includes the tailor-made BRABUS front fascia, which was adapted to the extremely wide 4×4² fender flares by means of BRABUS exposed-carbon wheel arch trim. It features LED position markers integrated above and below the large side air intakes, and also has an integral skid plate made from carbon.
This material is used also for the radiator grille with integrated BRABUS logo and the BRABUS power bulge hood cowl. Exposed-carbon rub strips perfectly round off the fierce appearance of the extreme off-roader.
This hi-tech compound features a high-gloss, sealed surface finish and is also the material of choice for the wind deflector above the windshield. At night, the driver is assisted in safely monitoring the terrain and thus any potential obstacles in front of the BRABUS 800 4×4² SUPERBLACK by particularly powerful LED headlights integrated into the deflector.
Due to the lofty step-in height, BRABUS offers special, electrically powered retractable running boards, which make it easier and safer to get in and out of the off-road supercar. Custom BRABUS hinges that allow opening the rear doors at an angle of up to 90 degrees provide more comfortable access to the rear compartment.
BRABUS developed a special fascia with integral carbon skid plate for the rear, which harmonizes perfectly with the massive steel bumper of the 4×4². The carbon cover of the swing-out spare wheel carrier sports an embossed BRABUS logo. The carrier is fitted with a BRABUS 22-inch wheel identical to the ones this supercar runs on. This not only completes the thrilling looks, but also represents an important safety aspect in an emergency on longer excursions.
The BRABUS Monoblock HD alloys in massive eight-spoke design are painted black for this supercar, and were developed specifically for the eight-lug bolt pattern on the portal axles of the 4×4² models. The 9.5Jx22 wheels with off-road-capable all-terrain tires of size 325/55 R take up the space under the wheel arch flares optimally.
The twin-turbo, four-liter eight-cylinder engine uprated with the BRABUS B40S-800 PowerXtra performance upgrade provides stupendous propulsion. Its installation results in an increase in peak power by 158 kW / 215 hp (212 bhp) and a rise in torque by 140 Nm (103 lb-ft). In order to realize this tremendous upsurge, this modification involves the installation of two high-performance turbos, which thanks to their larger compressor units and their special core assemblies with reinforced axial bearings produce a boost pressure of 1.6 bar, which is higher than that of the production turbos. BRABUS BoostXtra ensures that the turbocharged engine produces a clearly audible blow-off noise when the driver lifts off the gas.
The electronic boost pressure control was recalibrated in extensive tests on state-of-the-art test benches, on the road and in terrain. What is more: The plug-and-play BRABUS module was adapted to the electronic engine management system and introduces optimized maps for injection and ignition, which play an important part in the performance boost. BRABUS vouches for the high quality of the engine modification with the three-year or 100,000-km/62,000-mile BRABUS Tuning Warranty (see BRABUS Warranty Terms and Conditions, updated July 2013). BRABUS exclusively uses the hi-tech lubricants from technology partner Motul for this off-roader as well.
A peak output of 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) at 6,600 rpm and the massive peak torque of 1,000 Nm (747 lb-ft), which is already on tap at a low 3,600 rpm, make the off-roader weighing some 2.8 metric tons a companion that explosively responds to every gas pedal command. In perfect interplay with the automatic transmission, whose nine gears can also be shifted manually using the ergonomic BRABUS aluminum paddle shifters on the steering wheel, the BRABUS 800 4×4² SUPERBLACK heaves itself from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 4.6 seconds. The supercar is electronically limited to 210 km/h (130 mph) due to the high center of gravity and the mounted off-road tires.
THE BRABUS stainless sports exhaust system with actively controlled butterfly valves provides the accompanying sound befitting this potential. Depending on the selected driving mode, the V8 is quiet in the subtle “Coming Home” mode or produces an especially powerful engine roar in “Sport” position. The exhaust system is also a very special visual feature: Two side pipes framed by an exposed-carbon surround exit on each side of the vehicle in front of the rear wheels. They are fitted with ‘Launch Ambience Lights,’ which light up red when the interior lights are turned on.
The BRABUS 800 4×4² SUPERBLACK also features a particularly exclusive interior that was tailor-made by true artists of their craft in the company upholstery shop. Fitting the overall concept, the color black rules also in the interior. The BRABUS MASTERPIECE appointments use the finest, especially soft and breathable leather, and durable Dinamica microfiber, which was used for the headliner.
The great love of detail is also evident in the inner sections of the door panels, the floor mats and the center sections of the seats. They all feature square quilting applied with pinpoint precision. To ensure optimal seat climate control, the seat surfaces were perforated with supreme accuracy. The “Heritage” brand-pattern labeling with embossed “77“’ logos on the seat side bolsters, the sides of the center console, and the visors commemorate the year 1977 when BRABUS was founded.
Precise-fit, sporty exposed-carbon elements on the instrument panel, door panels and center console underscore the high-performance character of this vehicle, as do the aluminum pedals and door lock pins, as well as the BRABUS exposed-carbon pedal pads. The scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo changing colors in sync with the vehicle’s ambient lighting are also made from that same hi-tech composite.
Fuel economy, CO2 emissions and emissions information: BRABUS 800 4×4² SUPERBLACK based on the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4²: Combined fuel consumption: 20.1 l/100 km (11.7 mpg); combined CO2 emissions: 456 g/km.
