BMW Group Classic, in a bid to return to the company’s roots has completely moved to its new headquarters which is located on a site that has played a crucial role in the company’s history. The move to a complex that includes one of the buildings in which BMW first operated is particularly appropriate in view of the fact that the company is celebrating its centenary year. The BMW Group Classic pision has relocated the company’s collection of vehicles, the archives, workshop, parts center and the customer center to a group of buildings located in the district of Milbertshofen in Munich. Covering an area of 13000 square meters, the site at Moosacher Straße 66 includes the historic BMW building that has been carefully preserved through restoration in addition to the heritage gatehouse, which has been recognized as a listed building.
Commenting on the move, Ulrich Knieps, Head of BMW Group Classic said that now all the pisions of BMW Group Classic are finally under one roof making it easier to maintain the historic heritage of the German car manufacturer. BMW Group Classic has already conducted several major events like the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the Mille Miglia and the Festival of Speed from the new headquarters, with the new event venue already proving to be well worth the investment.
The new location for BMW Group Classic will serve as a one stop center for all fans and owners of classic vehicles belonging to the Rolls-Royce, MINI and BMW brands, as it will be possible to access all the information, and parts they need to take care of their beloved cars and motorcycles. The historic production hall houses a comprehensive collection of vehicles and numerous other exhibits. The facilities and event spaces forms the perfect backdrop for both large and small events. Guided tours of the new venue can be arranged to get an idea of the history of the company. The site even has an onsite café, Café “Mo 66” that gives them a vantage point from which they can look directly into the glass vehicle workshop of the BMW Group Classic Centre.
Its new location provides BMW Group Classic with more space and opportunities for staging activities for showcasing the rich history of the company and its three brands BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce. The BMW Group Archives is a treasure trove of information about the history of the company, its brands and its different exciting models. At the new headquarters, the highly experienced marketing and communication specialists work alongside events and exhibitions experts to organize events that would showcase BMW’s longstanding expertise in the automotive sector. Staff members work meticulously on the preservation and restoration of historic automobiles and motorcycles, and their services extend to support with the purchase, loan and sale of classic vehicles. Fans and owners of both cars and four wheeled and two wheeled vehicles can source parts from the parts shop which has stock of over 55 000 original spare parts items, a collection which is continuously growing. The BMW Group Classic pision will definitely play a major role in keeping the BMW flag flying high.
