Audi Maintains Lead in Autonomous Driving with Launch of A8 at Future Mobility Forum

Audi has been at the forefront of research into automated driving for a long time and demonstrated the progress it has made so far with the Middle East launch of the A8 at the 2017 Future Mobility Forum.

At the event, Audi showcased the original RS 7 autonomous driving concept car that marked a significant advance in the development of Audi’s piloted driving concept. It was this vehicle with the project name “Bobby” that in October 2014 finished a driverless lap of the Hockenheimring at speeds of up to 240 km/h.

The Future Mobility Forum provided a platform for the all-new Audi A8 to be displayed for the first time in the Middle East. The new Audi A8 heralds the future of the luxury class. The model, which is in its fourth generation will serve as the benchmark for Audi’s “Vorsprung durch Technik” – with its new design language, an innovative touchscreen operating concept and a systematically electrified drive.
The Audi A8 is also the first such production vehicle in the world that was developed for conditionally automated driving. It will be available from 2018 and will provide consumers with convenience features like parking pilot, garage pilot and traffic jam pilot.
Audi is already all set with the production-ready technology for the first piloted driving system. This new technology can significantly add to the role of the automobile as an emotional, comfortable and modern environment. In view of the comforts it offers, Audi has added “comfort time” or “25th Hour” as well as increased safety to the list of customer benefits.

The Audi A8 will also be one of the highlights of the Audi Stand at the Dubai International Motor Show to be held at the World Trade Centre from 14-18 November.
