400 hp, 480 Nm, 7-speed S tronic gearbox, four-wheel drive: the latest generation of the Audi compact sportster RS 3 already has some impressive performance indicators and features ex-works that up until a few years ago would have served veritable sports cars well. And it has to be said that Audi’s hot hatch in the compact class also leaves the factory with a by all means presentable, high-class interior. But there’s still a lot of room for improvement in both cases! The specialists at PS-Sattlerei in Bergkamen show just how far the customization of the passenger compartment can be taken by tailoring an absolutely unique full finish in a combination of Alcantara and carbon for the RS 3 Sportback shown here with a perfect eye for details. Dennis Halverscheid and his team of experts covered not only the sports seats and their brackets, the rear seat and the door panels but also the complete dashboard, the pillars and the headliner as well as the sun visors and door sill panels and rear shelf of the Audi completely in gray Alcantara, the color of which (code #9002) is identical to the original Alcantara elements in the RS 3 cockpit. The material for the red seams used to produce the numerous honeycomb pattern stitching is also original Audi. The second key element for the cockpit’s appearance is carbon fiber reinforced plastic – or carbon for short. This shimmering fiber composite material with its characteristic structure was used by PS-Sattlerei to line and decorate the dashboard and center console, the door panels, the shells of the Audi’s seats as well as its gear stick and interior mirror. The Audi steering wheel, which was upgraded using PS-Sattlerei’s PSS Evo X steering wheel conversion kit with profiles and contours as well as flattened sections on the underside, not to mention additional buttons from the super sports car brother, the R8, before its refinement with the named materials, undoubtedly brings a touch of motor sports flair to things: the four buttons operate the RS 3 start/stop system, the drive select vehicle dynamics system, the exhaust system’s valve control as well as a garage door opener. By the way, despite these upgrades, the wheel still holds a TÜV approval as it retains the metal core of the original steering wheel. Another highlight – in the truest sense of the word – is the headliner: PSSattlerei have installed a starlit sky with more than 700 micro-LEDs that twinkle and/or change color as the driver wishes. In short, everything about this interior from PS-Sattlerei is impressive! And that’s not all the Audi RS 3 has to offer! The car, wrapped in matte black with red highlights to match the cockpit by the project partner Tysson from Oberglatt in the Swiss canton of Zürich, was also given a complete tuning package form the famous tuning experts at ABT Sportsline: the front lip attachment, front grille attachment and rear apron trim can also be found in the portfolio of the traditional tuner from Allgäu, as can the 8.5×20 inch Sport GR20 rims in a glossy black finish with 235/30ZR20 tires. The brake system waiting to go into action behind the front wheels was upgraded with 380×35 mm brake discs from an ABT upgrade kit. What’s more, ABT suspension springs and sports stabilizers were also installed. The ABT Power S additional control unit boosts the RS 3’s power to 440 hp and a maximum torque of 520 Nm, whereas an ABT 4-pipe rear muffler with black, chrome-plated stainless steel tailpipes lets everyone know about the extra power.
