Bridgestone, a global leader in tyres and sustainable mobility solutions, announced the successful completion of its latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in the UAE. In collaboration with Goumbook and the UAE Food Bank, the initiative involved the company’s UAE-based employees and their families working together to prepare meals for 1,000 beneficiaries. The initiative elicited positive responses from the community and led to exceptional results, proving Bridgestone’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.
As part of the initiative, Bridgestone saved 933 kgs of fruits and vegetables from landfills, significantly lowering food waste and fostering environmental sustainability. The initiative also reduced 933 kts of CO2 emissions, or about 157 days’ worth of typical household electricity use. Most importantly, 925 kgs of fresh meals were served, offering vital nourishment to those in need, while also enhancing the welfare of the community.
Additionally, Bridgestone recycled 29 kgs of paper and cardboard, demonstrating its support for responsible waste management and recycling. These accomplishments are a testament to the company’s resolve to embracing corporate social responsibility, as well as positively influencing both the environment and community.
Jacques Fourie, Vice President and Managing Director of Bridgestone Middle East and Africa said: “We are delighted to collaborate with esteemed organisations like Goumbook and the UAE Food Bank to pave the way for the development of a compassionate society in the UAE. Through this joint initiative, we aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental preservation and encourage community members to join us in creating a more sustainable future. Our company’s long-standing philosophy of ‘Serving Society with Superior Quality’ is reflected in our motto, ‘Way to Serve,’ which also acknowledges that the best businesses not just deliver for their stakeholders, but also drive positive changes in the world.”
Furthermore, Bridgestone’s CSR initiative aligns with the organisation’s value of ‘Empowerment: Contributing to a Society that Ensures Accessibility and Dignity for All,’ as stated in its E8 Commitment. With sustainability and social responsibility serving as its foundation, Bridgestone strives to create a better world for everyone, and looks forward to continuing its humanitarian efforts and inspiring positive changes in the world.
