BRABUS offers the world’s largest range of engine tuning for Mercedes-Benz automobiles and that now includes the new S-Class as well. BRABUS developed a performance upgrade for the six-cylinder gasoline engine of the S 500 4MATIC. The plug-and-play BRABUS B50 – 500 PowerXtra module is integrated into the vehicle’s electronics and bumps peak output of the three-liter, four-valve powerplant by 65 horsepower while adding another 70 Nm of torque. This comes courtesy of special mapping for injection and ignition as well as of a moderately increased boost pressure.
After the modification, output is up from stock 320 kW / 435 hp to a whopping 368 kW / 500 hp (429 hp to 493 bhp), while peak torque jumps to 590 Nm (435 lb-ft), available on a plateau between 1,800 and 5,800 rpm. This cuts the four-door’s sprint time for zero – 100 km/h (62 mph) to just 4.7 seconds. The top speed remains electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
There is also a BRABUS performance upgrade for the turbodiesel engine of the S 400 d 4MATIC. After installation of the BRABUS PowerXtra D40 performance kit, the six-cylinder compression-ignition engine produces an output of 272 kW / 370 hp (365 bhp) and a peak torque of 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) at a low 2,500 rpm. As a result, the tuned luxury sedan sprints from rest to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
It goes without saying that the power unit engineers of the Bottrop-based company are already working on further tuning stages for the other gasoline, diesel and hybrid models of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. BRABUS recommends the use of fully synthetic MOTUL high-performance engine oil.
BRABUS offers not only uprated driving dynamics for the new top-of-the-range models. Owners of a new S-Class equipped ex-factory with AMG Line can also add some visual thrills to their vehicle with a sporty and elegantly styled aerodynamic-enhancement kit. All parts are manufactured in OEM quality from PUR-R-RIM. This ensures a perfect fit and flawless paintability.
The BRABUS front spoiler provides a visual upgrade for the production front fascia while reducing front-axle lift to boot. Surrounds for the side air intakes in the front bumper give the striking front even more dynamic character. Integrated LED side markers ensure the BRABUS look stands out even more from prominently the production design.
The BRABUS designers also thoroughly revised the rear end. Their measures include a sportingly styled insert for the rear bumper that can be combined with black chromed tailpipe embellishers sporting the hallmark BRABUS design. A naked-carbon rear spoiler lip will be available soon.
This exclusive look naturally also includes BRABUS Monoblock alloy wheels with diameters of 19, 20 and even 21 inches, all tailor-made for the new S-Class. Forged BRABUS “PLATINUM EDITION” alloys in various designs are available as the most exclusive wheel/tire combination.
The vehicle shown here sports BRABUS Monoblock M “PLATINUM EDITION” wheels of size 9Jx21 on the front axle and size 10.5Jx21 at the rear. These rims are manufactured using hi-tech forging technology. Their design impresses with a combination of polished surfaces and black painted vent openings. The BRABUS Monoblock M “PLATINUM EDITION” wheels on the vehicle shown here are painted in vehicle color. BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA supply the optimal tires with the largest possible combination featuring size 265/35 ZR 21 tires at the front and size 305/30 ZR 21 tires on the rear axle.
The BRABUS suspension engineers achieve a sportier look and even more agile handling without compromising the outstanding ride comfort of the S-Class with the Airmatic Sport Unit. It lowers the ride height of the sedan by up to 25 millimeters (1.0 in) depending on the selected drive mode.
Luxury and individuality in their purest forms in the interior are a particular BRABUS specialty. The range of options for the new S-Class spans from an eight-piece scuff plate set with BRABUS logos, which optionally light up in white or change colors in sync with the ambient lighting, to exclusive interior trim that is tailored to the customer’s wishes in every detail and meticulously finished with sublime workmanship.
The luxury liner pictured here was fitted with a two-tone BRABUS fine leather interior made of particularly soft and breathable leather in the contrasting colors porcelain and black. The leather treatment also includes the dashboard and the center console. The great love of detail is demonstrated not only by the seat surfaces, which have been perforated with pinpoint precision and additionally stitched in the identical cube design as the center sections of the door panels. Further striking touches have been added with the shadow chrome coating for all switches and the carbon elements on the dashboard and in the center console. Particularly exclusive are the optionally available trim sets in BRABUS Signature Carbon, which was developed exclusively for the new S-Class.
