Dana Incorporated won the 2017 Outstanding Power Electronics Solution Provider award at the 8th edition of the Annual Green Vehicle Convention. The company, which is considered as one of the leading players in the development of engineered solutions for improving the efficiency, performance, and sustainability of powered vehicles received the award at the event which was held recently in Beijing, China. Dan qualified for the award on the basis of its innovative approach in developing an insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) cooling solution for electric vehicles.
The Green Vehicle Convention is the biggest event in the world which focuses on the commercial and technical aspects of the electric-vehicle industry. Dana used the show to showcase its full range of electrification products and thermal-management systems for hybrid and electric vehicles, including its IGBT cooling and battery-cooling technologies.
At 2015 and 2016 editions of the event, Dana was named as the Best Battery Solution Provider for its research and contributions to thermal-management technologies for hybrid-electric vehicles and battery-electric vehicles.
Commenting on the award, Dwayne Matthews, president, Dana Power Technologies said that getting such a recognition for the third year in a row was an exciting accomplishment for Dana and a high compliment for its product portfolio for electric and hybrid vehicles.
He added “Dana’s investment in improving automotive electrification, including the development of technologies that support new-energy vehicle programs, is in line with its long-term commitment to provide innovative solutions that will move the industry forward.”
Dana’s IGBT cooling technology caters to the need for high-performance thermal requirements of modern electric and hybrid vehicles. The precision-manufactured aluminum cooling plates are notable for their superior flatness, which is a crucial requirement when it comes to reducing thermal resistance. This will prevent IGBT chips from overheating and possible failure. Dana’s IGBT cooling technology is exceptionally clean and flux-free, and optimizes coolant conductivity levels by minimizing contamination.
