Chevrolet will be marking 65 years of the Chevy Corvette in 2018 with a special edition. The first Corvette came off the production line on June 30, 1953 at the company’s factory in Flint, Michigan. All the 300 Corvettes that were made in 1953 were white in color with red upholstery in the interiors. The production run of Corvette Carbon 65 Edition cars will be capped at just 650 units.
The limited edition cars will be notable for their carbon fiber elements, both internally and externally. They will sport a new paint color by the name of Ceramic Matrix Gray. This will replace Sterling Blue in the Corvette color palette. The rear spoiler and quarter ducts will be fashioned from carbon fiber. Other prominent features of the model will be its blue brake calipers, fender stripes and door graphics, and black, machine-finish wheels with special center caps. The kick plate has been specially decorated and to complete the look, the steering wheel too is carbon-rimmed. The Competition Sport seats are finished in Jet Black suede to complete the exterior finish.
The Carbon 65 Edition is available in Grand Sport or Z06 versions as well as coupe and convertible variants. According to Chevrolet, the car will be available from this summer onwards and will involve a markup of USD 15,000 when compared to the non-Limited-Edition ‘Vette. Chevrolet has also announced that the 2018 Corvette will have ceramic brakes on the Grand Sport as a standalone option as well as the Magnetic Ride Control on the Stingray. There are also new choices available for the wheels.
