The external appearance of a car is just as important as the smooth functioning of its internal components. Axalta Coating Systems, which is one of the top manufacturers in the world of liquid and powder coatings, has launched its new brand of Syrox refinish paint systems. Syrox is being positioned as a complete and compact range of European formulations, that are meant for the mainstream aftermarket segment when it comes to the repair of passenger cars. Each shade is inclusive of a waterborne basecoat. The paints are easy to us and apply and are likely to emerge as a viable alternative to offerings from premium brands.
According to company sources, application needs to be made as single coats with intermediate flash-off times and just two coats and one effect coat are all that is needed to get complete coverage. Another distinctive feature of the system is the exceptional color matching, as Axalta has a global database of color formulas and spectrophotometer technology that make it possible to achieve accurate color-matching with minimum effort in the body shop.
The plastic basecoat bottles have a special dosing lid that makes it easy to measure and pour, down to a single drop of paint, thus minimizing wastage while the level indicator on the side of the bottles allows users to identify when the levels are going down and replenish them. The bottles can be stored even upside down as they have a flat top and come in smaller volume sizes. All you have to do before you use them is shake them.
Commenting on Syrox, Matthias Schönberg, vice president of Axalta and president for Axalta’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region said that the innovations used in the Syrox range were based on feedback from customers. Customers need a refinish system that is economical, delivers accurate color matches and is straightforward to apply. With Syrox, customers get a system that makes no compromises when it comes to color or quality.
He added that Syrox is a complete all-arounder, that can be used by bodyshops of any size and which meets national and international norms when it comes to emissions of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOC).
Syrox was developed as a specific brand to cater to the needs of customers and showcase Axalta’s approach to research and development. Axalta will manufacture Syrox refinish systems in Europe and launch it in selected markets in Europe, New Zzealand, China and other parts of Asia throughout 2016.
