Trelleborg Wheel Systems was recently in the news for acquiring Czech tire manufacturer Mitas. Now, the company has finalized a deal to acquire International Tyre and Wheel Solutions Ltd. (ITWS), a UK based company that distribution of large solid off-the-road (OTR) tires for the waste, recycling and demolition industries. This new deal will help Trelleborg to further consolidate its position as an OTR tire manufacturer and complement the Mitas acquisition as Trelleborg will now have access to both the pneumatic and solid tire markets in the Middle East, Africa and European markets.
ITWS is based in Lowton, England and is one of the leading companies in this sector with sales of USD 4.653 million in 2015.
Speaking about the acquisition, Maurizio Vischi, president of the Trelleborg Wheel Systems business area said that the acquisition of ITWS will give Trelleborg access to the distribution network of one of the leading distributors of large, solid tires in Europe. The company has an extensive distribution network and a wide customer base. Thus, Trelleborg will be able to expand its range of construction tires in Europe in addition to strengthening its reputation as a supplier of solid OTR tires in the Middle East and Africa.
The transaction was finalized subject to final approval on 1 September 2016.
