It seems that no other company could ever rival HARMAN’s position in the automotive industry. Just recently, the premier company has bagged a total of 13 Plus X Awards, including two for “Best Product of the Year”, for its different products and technologies.
The esteemed Plus X Awards recognize manufacturers for cutting-edge technologies, exceptional design, as well as intelligent and easy-to-use operating systems and user interfaces. With an independent judge panel from 25 industries worldwide, this Award is the globe’s grandest competition for lifestyle, sports and technology.
The following are the HARMAN products and technologies that bagged this award:
AKG N90Q – Plus X Awards for Innovation, High Quality, Design, and Functionality
HARMAN touts the AKG N90Q as the globe’s first headphone featuring personalized sound. The company’s know-how in signal processing, headphone ergonomics, and pyschoacoustics has been further perfected by the ears of Quincy Jones, the most acclaimed producer of all-time. Its TruNote technology is a groundbreaking software solution for auto-calibration and frequency response measurement. COmbined with its patented, dual-foam ear cushion and optimized pistonic motion driver, unpleasant reflection and cavity effects are shunned, which is crucial for precise sound reproduction. Apart from TruNote, Quincy and the HARMAN audio engineers ensured that the AKG N90Q employs the latest noise-cancelling and sound customization technology to improve the audio experience based on the listener’s taste.
Harman Kardon Esquire 2 – Plus X Awards for High Quality, Design, Ease of Use and Functionality
Representing the marriage of performance and master craftsmanship, the sleek, ultra-slim HARMAN Kardon Esquire 2 wireless audio system boasts an unrivalled teleconferencing system, thanks to its quad-microphone VoiceLogic noise and echo canceling technology system with 360-degree voice pick-up. This system comes in black, champagne or graphite and makes a stylish addition to any office or conference room. It also has a rechargeable battery that supports up to eight hours of playtime, and its USB charge out ensures that travelling professionals’ smartphones and tablets will never run out of power.
HALOsonic – Plus X Award for Innovation
In order to address the acoustic challenges within the automotive environment of standard, hybrid and electric cars, HARMAN developed HALOsonic, an award-winning set of different sound solutions that work to enhance noise levels and to improve and contour sound inside and outside the vehicle. Road Noise Cancellation (RNC) and Engine Order Cancellation (EOC) were developed to tackle road noises before they reach the ears of car occupants. Apart from RNC and EOC, HALOsonic also offers Electronic Sound Synthesis (ESS) which produces the authentic sounds of an engine, inside or outside the car.
Inpidual Sound Zones – Plus X Awards for Innovation and Functionality
Inpidual Sound Zones (ISZ) is a fresh in-cabin technology that enables both drivers and passengers to create sonic zones between inpiduals. Digital signal processing has been particularly tuned to the speakers and cabin to minimize the signal from other zones, irrespective of whether they are voice, music or other noises. Although ISZ does not eliminate all signals and sounds, it ensures that passengers have their desired audio experience. It uses a vehicle’s existing speakers with the addition of headrest speakers along with flat and thin Electric Dynamic Planar Loudspeakers in the vehicle ceiling. Car occupants can still hear other sounds in the cabin, but those sounds are regulated to limit distractions to every passenger’s own sound experience. ISZ can be integrated into any HARMAN in-car audio system through the amplifier and is available to all automotive manufacturers.
Inpidual Sound Zones and AKG N90Q – Plus X “Best Product of the Year” Awards
Apart from the inpidual laurels they have received, HARMAN’s AKG N90Q headset and ISZ solution both were given the special award of being best products of the year in 2015 and 2016.
According to Dinesh Paliwal, Chairman, President and CEO of HARMAN, they are thrilled that many of HARMAN’s innovations have again been honored by the esteemed international Plus X jury. He said that the awards are further proof of the incredible work that their engineers are doing worldwide to redefine outstanding acoustics and create new sound management categories for all platforms, from consumer and automotive to enterprise and professional entertainment venues.
