In collaboration with other industry leaders, Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has developed state-of-the-art solutions to enable the use of its touch fingerprint sensor technology for automotive applications.
Following the test and assessment by global automakers and related companies last year, FPC’s touch fingerprint sensor module, FPC1025, has been chosen for further development and integration in commercial applications for the automotive industry.
The company is looking forward to conduct public demonstrations embedding its new touch fingerprint sensor technology in automotive applications this year, and those commercial premieres are planned to take place after this year.
According to Jörgen Lantto, CEO of FPC, the company has established a position as the industry leading supplier of fingerprint sensor technology for the smartphone industry. He said that they are now investing in adapting their leading technology for other market segments, such as smart cards as previously communicated, where their ambition is to extend their leadership to these new market segments.
Lantto continued that their announcement of the technology underscores automotive as another market segment where FPC’s technology is perfectly suited. “We are looking forward to seeing demonstrations of our technology in automotive applications during 2016 together with world-leaders in automotive.”
Just in December, Fingerprint Cards reported in its investor update that its revenue guidance for this year is roughly 6,500-8,500 MSEK ($768 million-$1 billion).
