Mercedes-AMG is marking two successive Formula One World Championships with a special edition hot hatch that is derived from the A45 AMG.
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas 2015 World Champion Edition is a special edition model that is available for sale in three shades of gray or silver. The teal and black accents to emulate the Silver Arrows liver contribute to the striking appearance of the vehicle. The aerodynamic kit has been ramped up with a new front splitter and rear roof spoiler. The interiors have been fitted with the standard leather and microfiber sports seats that are the norm for the A45 AMG. In the special edition car, both the Dynamic Plus and Night packages are available as standard features. Other special touches include the 19-inch wheels, and the special baadging and trim.
Like the revamped Aa45, the car is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four engine with an output of 381 hp.
The price tag may be a bit steep at USD 69, 216.34 for an A-Class, but it is definitely more practical than the special-edition SL63 roadsters Mercedes-AMG came up with to mark first Formula One championship.
In 2015, as in the 2014 season the Mercedes team won both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships in the F1 series, with both the winner, Lewis Hamilton and the runner-up Nico Rosberg belonging to the German team. Out of the 18 rounds thathave already taken place, the Mercedes team clinched 15, with one race still to go. If the team wins the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend, it will be able to match the 2014 record of 16 out of 19 Grand Prix victories.
