Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus has equipped its new Super Great heavy-duty truck with sensors that can help drivers of long-distance trucks. The new app will allow drivers to use their smartphones to monitor the truck. Drivers can use the app to change the height of the vehicle by adjusting the suspension system, turn the lights on or off, and monitor details like tyre pressure and speed.

The company expects that drivers will use the app-based service when they take short breaks while driving. The company is planning to promote the app to cargo delivery companies and other services which use a fleet comprising a large number of trucks.

In May this year, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus had debuted a fully revamped version of its Super Great heavy-duty truck. The latest model has sensors that can detect any issues in the vehicle and can transmit the data to remote locations for monitoring. The new app will link such monitoring capability with smartphones.

Drivers can download the free app, Fuso Remote Truck, on their smartphones and link it with a wireless device on their trucks.

Mitsubishi is planning to launch the app by the end of 2017. It will first be available for the tractor-trailer model of the Super Great truck, which was launched in September.

Super Great drivers can also use the app to select music on the in-cab sound system and use the app while inside or outside the vehicle, as long as they are within a distance of 10 meters of the vehicle.

The app can be used to check various parameters related to the condition of the vehicle, like the fuel level, tyre pressure and in-car temperature.

Mitsubishi Fuso, along with its parent company Daimler of Germany, aims to enhance the connectivity of its vehicles, aiming to distinguish their vehicles from those of its rivals. The app-based service will be expanded to other models under the Daimler group.
