Valeo has teamed up with Cisco to develop a new parking service named Cyber Valet Services that will be unveiled at the 2017 Viva Technology conference in Paris.

It will now be possible for vehicles having Valeo Park4U Auto technology to park safely without even a driver in connected car parks. All the driver has to do is get out of the vehicle at the entrance of the car park and activate the automatic parking system using a smartphone. The vehicle will then continue to drive autonomously until it has finished parking. When the driver needs to leave, he just has to activate the system again with just a few clicks to have the car meet him at the dropoff point.

The vehicle uses secure key systems (Valeo InBlue), automatic parking technologies (Valeo Park4U Auto), and Valeo on-board telematics. Cisco Parking Controller technologies are used to equip car parks with Wi-Fi, video sensors and artificial intelligence-based solutions.

The sensors in the vehicle act in tandem with the information received from the equipment installed in the car park to help the vehicle to perceive its environment with a very high level of accuracy, thus allowing it to park safely even in multi-story garages.

The parking service is now being introduced at the Camille Desmoulins parking garage in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France. Indigo, one of the key parking services and individual mobility solutions, will be the first company to integrate the new service and will help its customers to save time and hassle by partnering with OPnGO to bundle its payment application and barrier‑free plate recognition technology into the Cyber Valet Services offering.

Optimizing parking will help free up space and reduce congestion. Such services will also make it possible for car parks to provide customers with additional services like automatic car washing, maintenance and automated electric vehicle charging. In the case of vehicle fleet managers, this service will optimize car park use by reducing the time it takes to drop off and pick up vehicles.

Jacques Aschenbroich, Valeo’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Valeo’s goal is to develop technologies for everyone that re-imagine mobility to make it smoother, safer and more intuitive. Valeo’s Park4U®Auto technology has already been integrated into more than 12 million vehicles worldwide. Our partnership with Cisco is a great opportunity for us to show how our technologies are capable of transforming urban mobility services sustainably and for the better. I would like to thank the teams at Valeo and Cisco who worked to make this project possible.”
