Having your car stolen is not an experience anyone would enjoy, especially if your vehicle is a classic Porsche that cannot be easily replaced. Porsche has now launched a Porsche Classic Vehicle Tracking System. The system is an automatic GPS based anti-theft system that can be used for every model from the Porsche 356.

Porsche is currently working on the system that can be fitted discretely on various points on the vehicle. The system will sound an alarm if it thinks the vehicle is being stolen. It will send an alert to a security center and the customer if the battery is disconnected. In the event that the customer confirms that the disconnection of the battery was unauthorized, the security center will report the theft to the police. The GPS sensor will be handy to get the whereabouts of the current location of the car. It is even possible for the system to prevent the engine from being restarted. It will be the security center rather than the police that will remain in contact with the customer to minimize the possibility of language barrier becoming an issue.

The system will be available only in Europe and will be launched in the spring of 2018. It will be available at the retail level for purchase form Porsche Classic Partners and Porsche Centers across Europe. The system is compatible with all models ranging from the 356 to the Carrera GT. Though the 356 has a 6-volt arrangement, a converter will make it possible for the 12-volt system to work without any issues.

The system comes with a phone app that will allow users to see the location of their vehicles, depending on the country. If they lend the car to someone, they can use the system to set up a geofence in order to prevent them from taking the vehicle outside predetermined limits. The system also has “workshop” and “transport” modes that makes it possible to deactivate some of the features in order to prevent the alarm from functioning when the vehicle is being moved on a truck or recovery vehicle or is being repaired.
